Legal
AI & Data Mining Policy
Prohibition
Use of AlaskaPhoto Archive content for machine-learning, artificial intelligence training, text and data mining (TDM), or any form of automated harvesting or extraction is expressly prohibited without prior written consent. This includes but is not limited to: training neural networks, building datasets for AI models, automated scraping or crawling for ML purposes, and derivative use intended for AI systems.
Robots and Crawlers
Our robots.txt file restricts automated access. Crawling or scraping of image files, metadata, or page content for purposes other than indexing for search engines (e.g., Google) is not permitted. AI and ML companies, data brokers, and similar entities may not harvest our content.
Reservation of Rights
We reserve all rights with respect to text and data mining under applicable law, including the EU Digital Services Act and similar frameworks. Any TDM or similar use requires explicit contractual permission.
Provenance and Enforcement
Many archive images include C2PA (Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity) assertions that embed provenance and ownership information. Tampering with or stripping these assertions violates our terms. We use technical and legal measures to detect unauthorized use and enforce our rights.
Licensed AI Use
Organizations interested in licensing archive content for AI training, research, or other data-intensive uses may contact us at [email protected]. We evaluate requests on a case-by-case basis. See our main Licensing page and /licensing/ai-training/ for context.
