Accessibility
Our Commitment
The AlaskaPhoto Archive is committed to making its website accessible to the widest possible audience. We aim to conform to Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA where practicable.
What We've Done
We have implemented: semantic HTML structure; descriptive alt text for images; sufficient color contrast; keyboard-navigable interfaces; clear focus indicators; responsive design that works across devices; and readable font sizes and line heights.
Known Limitations
As a photographic archive, our primary content is visual. We provide text captions, metadata, and descriptions for all images. Some complex interactive features (maps, timelines) may have limitations. We continue to improve accessibility with each update.
Assistive Technologies
The site is designed to work with screen readers, keyboard-only navigation, and browser zoom. We test with common assistive tools where possible.
Reporting Barriers
If you encounter an accessibility barrier — a feature that doesn't work with your assistive technology, unclear navigation, or any other issue — please contact us at [email protected]. We will acknowledge your report and work to address it where feasible.
Updates
We review and update our accessibility practices periodically. This statement was last updated with the introduction of our legal pages suite.
